Specialised gymnastics classes for children aged 3 and 4

Turn off the TV, put down your video games and get out and play!

Children of today spend too much time in front of computers and television, and as a result, have underdeveloped gross motor co-ordination due to a lack of free outdoor play.

The kidnastics programme is a specially designed programme to help youngsters develop and improve skills such as balance, strength, flexibility, gross and fine motor co-ordination, while developing basic gymnastic skills.

These skills are essential for every child and are a basis for all sports.

Many of our gymnasts in the kidnastics class are referred to us by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. While we don’t replace the work that the therapists do, we work together with them to assist children with the following problems:

Laterality - ability to cross the mid-line i.e. touch his left knee with his right hand.

Spatial Orientation - awareness of up, down, left, right, behind, in front, etc.

Balance - ability to sustain a steady position

Gross motor co-ordination - e.g. running, walking, hopping, skipping, jumping etc.

Co-ordination - ability to follow eyes with hands, feet and body movements.

Physical development - ability to carry out specific actions at specific ages.
